I don’t know what department you’re in, but in English (at OSU), it looks like not much will change for now. But I think changes will be coming in the next few years.

There is really no other way to respond to that degree of cutting.

If all assistantships have been cut, then who will be doing the teaching once you’ve cycled through this batch of funded grad students? Are adjuncts more budget friendly?

My department cut all assistantships to incoming grads, and the school cut 12% of the budget which means there is no money anywhere for anything. (UMass Amherst)
